Gardaí seize cash and drugs in Letterkenny

As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí attached to the Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit have seized €2,440 of suspected cannabis, €1,315 cash, an air pistol, and drugs paraphernalia, and arrested one man during the course of a search at a residence in the Letterkenny area.

The search took place on Tuesday, July 30.

A Garda spokesperson said: “The drugs seized will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland to undergo analysis.

“The arrested man has since been released without charge. Investigations are ongoing.

“Gardaí are appealing for anyone who has information in relation to the sale and supply of controlled substances in Co. Donegal or the border region, to contact the Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit on 074 916 7100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

“Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy commenced on the 1st of July 2021. The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels, international, national, and local, involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production and local sale and supply of controlled drugs.”
