Gardai remaining tight-lipped about sex offenders

GARDAI in Letterkenny cannot confirm reports that two sex offenders from Northern Ireland have reportedly registered as staying in Donegal.

Officials are refusing to comment on whether or not James White (48) and Jason Lydiard (26) have been spotted in Letterkenny today.

Despite other media reports, Gardai have not confirmed to the Donegal News if the two have registered as staying in Letterkenny.

Gardai issued a nationwide warning about child rapist White and Lydiard last week, warning the public to be vigilant.

They were reportedly spotted in Letterkenny Retail Park on Friday morning, and later on the Pole Star Road heading towards Duffy’s Circus. The pair, originally from Northern Ireland, are believed to work in a double-act and have been described as ‘high-risk sex offenders’.

It was reported that Lydiard, who also uses the name Alexis Guesto, uses a fake social media profile to identify potential victims. The Co.Down native recently served a seven-month sentence for ignoring a court order banning him from online dating sites. He also has previous convictions for sexual assault, threats to kill and assaults causing harm.

White, originally from Armagh, served a six year sentence in 1998 for two counts of buggery and five charges of sexual assault on a teenage boy in Co. Meath. He has 62 previous convictions including sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm.
