GARDAI have moved to destroy hundreds of porn CDs and DVDs owned by sex-offender Michael Ferry.

Among the items gardai also want to destroy are mobile phones, digital cameras and a silver pen with audio recording capabilities.

A silver revolver with a five-shot capacity and a small pipe used to smoke cannabis are also on their list of Ferry property they want to destroy.

An application to dispose of the property was opened by Inspector Dennis Joyce at Glenties District Court.

Documents, which gave Ferry’s address as c/o Arbour Hill Prison – where sex offenders are held – said the property was seized under warrant during investigations of a number of sexual offences and possession and production of child pornography.

Ferry, whose address is Carrickboyle, Gweedore, was not in court for the Garda application before Judge Paul Kelly.Neither was his solicitor Patsy Gallagher.

Judge Kelly adjourned the application until the next court in Glenties on January 22 to allow gardai liaise with Mr Gallagher.

Ferry was given an 18-year prison sentence at the Central Criminal Court in 2011 for raping and assaulting four boys aged between 10 and 17 at Ard Scoil Mhuire, Derrybeg, near his home between 1990 and 2005. The final four years of the sentence were suspended.
