GARDAI have made a fresh appeal for information in relation to Thursday’s horror crash in Letterkenny which has left a young St Johnston man fighting for his life.

Darry McDaid (23) from Cavancaw remains in a ‘critical’ condition in Letterkenny General Hospital after the BMW car he was driving crossed four lanes of traffic before colliding with traffic signs and a telegraph pole in the townland of Drumnahoagh near Bonagee at 12.50am on Thursday.

The subsequent garda investigation closed the Derry Road for over 12 hours and caused traffic mayhem with tailbacks of up to three hours reported on the way into the town.

“Investigating Gardai are appealing for any person who may have travelled on the road or observed the BMW prior to the collision to contact them at Letterkenny Garda Station on 074-9167100, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station,” a spokesperson for the Garda Press Office said.
