Gardaí issue warning after two drivers caught speeding

GARDAÍ from Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit have issued a stark warning after two motorists were caught speeding.

It comes after members carried out speed checks on Sunday.
A Garda spokesperson said, “A number of motorists were detected travelling in excess of the legal speed limit and a number of Fixed Charge Penalty Notices have been issued.
“One such detection was a vehicle being driven at 139KPH in a 100KPH speed zone.
“Two drivers who were stopped for speeding offences were arrested after they then failed a roadside drug test with both testing positive for cannabis.
“One of these drivers was also found to have a small quantity of suspected cannabis in their possession.
“Slow down.
“Never drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
“Lives can be wiped out in an instant on the roads.
“Don’t let lives be lost because of a poor decision you made.”
