Gardaí issue further update on Sliabh Liag investigation 

A post-mortem has been completed by the Office of the State Pathologist on the body which was recovered from the water at Slieve League yesterday morning, Monday July 3.

The results of the post-mortem are not being released for operational purposes.

An Garda Síochána are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of an alleged assault that is reported to have occurred in the Slieve League/ Killybegs area between Saturday, June 24 2023 and Sunday, June 25 2023.

An incident room has been established at Ballyshannon Garda Station under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer.

Investigating Gardaí continue to appeal to any persons travelling in the vicinity of Slieve League/ Killybegs between the afternoon of Saturday June 24 and the evening of Sunday June 25 who observed any activity which drew their attention to come forward.

A Garda spokesperson said, “Any road users travelling in these areas, at this time, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ballyshannon Garda Station on 071 985 8530, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

“No further information is available at this time.”
