Gardaí issue burglary alert

GARDAÍ in Donegal have issued a burglary alert as part of Operation Thor ‘if you love it lock up and light up’ National Crime Prevention Initiative.

Garda Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Paul Wallace has issued the following simple steps to help protect your home.
• Whether at home or going out remember to turn on some lights.
• Lock all doors and windows (In Donegal over half of residential burglaries houses were accessed through unlocked rear doors)
• If you have an alarm – Use it.
• Store Keys away from Windows and Letterboxes.
• Don’t keep large amounts of cash at home – Take steps to secure your jewellery • If you have been a victim of crime – REPORT IT.

He continued: “People in the Community are requested to check on elderly neighbours on a regular basis, and provide them with contact number to use if they require assistance.”
