Gardaí issue advice ahead of Storm Bram’s arrival

Gardaí in Donegal have issued advice ahead of the arrival of Storm Bram this afternoon.

A Status Orange Wind Warning has been issued by Met Éireann in respect of Donegal and it is in place between 2pm and 9pm today.

“We advise the public to keep an eye on Met Éireann’s updates in case the warnings change over the course of the day. The public are advised to take extra care on the roads if they must travel. Expect surface water, possible debris and poor visibility. Slow down. Please allow extra time for any journeys and take extra care on exposed roads and bridges. A red warning is in place for coastal areas for today. Keep away from coastal edges, marinas and piers. Please do not put yourself or the emergency services at risk.

“Donegal County Council have posted their emergency contact numbers on their Facebook page and they are also available on our Facebook page. Should you come across fallen power cables, stay away from them and report the matter to ESB emergency services on 1800 372 999. We hope that everyone stays safe and warm and that the storm passes quickly.”
