LOCAL gardaí have issue guidance to the public following a spate of burglaries across the county in recent days.
Gardaí are currently investigating a number of burglaries which took place over the weekend including in Donegal Town and Letterkenny.
They are also investigating an attempted burglary at a home in Stranorlar on Saturday night.
They advised the public to lock up and light up, particularly if the house will be vacant for a period of time.
“If you are going on holidays, do not post about your plans on social media and do ask a neighbour or family member to keep an eye on your property for you while you are away,” a garda spokesperson said.
They also advised the public to keep an eye on vulnerable or elderly neighbours and family members and ensure that they are security conscious.
“Please alert Gardaí if you feel that someone you know would benefit from a visit from us to have a chat about home security measures and we will arrange that,” the garda spokesperson added.
