Gardaí investigate St Johnston shooting

GARDAI are investigating the circumstances of a shooting incident in which a man in his 40s was injured.

The incident occurred at a flat on Main Street in the village of St. Johnston at approximately 5.15pm yesterday evening.

It is alleged that the male sustained his injuries when a number of masked men entered his flat armed with bats and what is believed to be a pellet gun. They fled the scene empty handed.

The male was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital for treatment to injuries which not thought to be life threatening. The scene is preserved for a technical examination.

No arrests have been made and inquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Letterkenny Garda Station 074-9167100 or Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
