Gardaí spoke to the driver of a Silver Opel Astra at the scene, who explained that they had been travelling along Bridge Street when a Red Mitsubishi Shogun, partial registration number ‘LLZ’ collided with their passenger side door causing extensive damage to it.

The driver of the Red Mitsubishi Shogun did not remain at the scene to exchange details but instead continued on in the direction of Rathmullan.

A garda spokesperson said: “We appeal to any road users who were in that area who had a dash cam to make the footage available to Gardaí. If anybody observed the incident or if they can assist with this investigation in any way we ask them to contact Gardaí in Milford on (074) 9153060.”
