GARDAÍ are appealing for information after a teenager was assaulted in an unprovoked attack in Letterkenny last week.
The incident occurred on Letterkenny Main Street, near the foot of the Church Lane, on Tuesday, February 18 around 7.30pm.
A garda spokesperson said: “A male teenager was walking at Upper Main Street, Letterkenny when he was confronted by two males who were not known to him. The incident occurred near the foot of Church Lane on the Main Street. Both males assaulted the teenager. The injured teenager managed to run up Upper Main Street but was followed but he was followed by one of the males who demanded that he hand over his money. He did so and the two males then left the area on foot towards Lower Main Street.”
Gardaí are appealing to anyone with relevant information to make contact with them.
“We can ascertain from CCTV footage of the incident that a number of people were in the area in vehicles and also on foot at the time,” a spokesperson said.
“We appeal to these people or to anyone with relevant information to make contact with Gardaí in Letterkenny on 074-9167100.
“If anybody travelled at Main Street, Letterkenny between 7.20pm and 7.40pm on February 18 with a dash cam, we ask them to make the footage available to us.”
