Gardaí appeal for information after patrol car rammed

Gardaí in Donegal are investigating an incident which involved a patrol car being rammed and resulted in a member of the force being injured.

Gardaí in Ballyshannon are investigating a number of incidents of dangerous driving involving a red Skoda Fabia with a partial registration number ‘05 DL’ that occurred in the Ballyshannon area on Thursday, December 8 between 00.45am and 1.05am. The patrol car was rammed by the offending vehicle at Higginstown Cross, Ballyshannon at approximately 1.05am and one Garda member was injured as a result.

“During the course of the incident another Garda member was forced to seek cover when the car drove at them. This member was not injured. We are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward,” said a Garda spokesperson.

Road users with dash cam footage who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision are asked to make it available to Gardaí. Gardaí are interested in any sightings or dash cam footage of this vehicle being driven in Ballyshannon Town, Donegal Town, Mountcharles or surrounding areas between 12am and 1.30am on the morning of December 8.

The offending car was later located in the area of Batchelor’s Walk, Ballyshannon at lunchtime on Sunday, December 11.
