The auction held by O’Donnellan and Joyce, a Galway based Auctioneer took place on Friday, November 3, drew the attention of over 15 interested bidders who tuned in to the auction both online and via the phone.

“Anyone who doesn’t buy it should be locked up,” the auctioneer told the many keen bidders.

The 720sq ft property at the heart of the Donegal Gaeltacht was built in the 1970s, it is fitted with an intercom system, a public office, a sergeant’s office, toilet, kitchen, shower, and even a holding cell.

The back and forth bidding went down to the line between two online bidders.

A spokesperson from O’Donnellan and Joyce Auctioneers confirmed to the Donegal News that the property was purchased by a person from the North, however no other details, including if the property is intended to be used for commercial or residential purposes, were disclosed.
