A FILE is being for the Director of Public Prosecutions after a high speed pursuit during which a garda patrol car was rammed on the outskirts of Letterkenny.
Three garda officers escaped with minor injuries following the incident at around 4am on Sunday. A garda spokesman confirmed a man had been arrested and released on bail.
The pursuit over several miles began in the Long Lane area and continued via Ballyraine Park and onto the Manorcunningham roundabout.
The driver of the BMW car refused to pull over and rammed the patrol car several times during the incident around the roads and streets of Letterkenny.
The car left the town and drove at high speed in the direction of Manorcunningham where the vehicle was abandoned.
Gardaí later arrested a man near the Bus Eireann depot in Letterkenny.
“Fortunately, none of the officers were seriously injured,” a garda spokesman said.
“The driver was arrested and released on bail after questioning. A file is being prepared for the DPP,” he added.
