GAOTH Dobhair manager Rónán Mac Niallais says his club have to be ready for the Naomh Conaill ‘hurricane’ that will come their way this Sunday in the county final.
Naomh Conaill are appearing in their eighth final in nine years and are keen to defend the title they won last year.
The Davy Brennan Memorial Park men have been the form team in the championship, but Mac Niallais feels his side will deliver a performance in Mac Cumhaill Park.
A win this week will see Gaoth Dobhair climb to the summit of the roll-of-honour once again with 16 triumphs (although St Eunan’s may say that they are already at that number if you include the 1997 title that was lost in the boardroom when they were deemed to have played an ineligible player).
Gaoth Dobhair are a proud club but they face a big task this week.
“Gaoth Dobhair have a great history in finals,” said Mac Niallais.
“We mightn’t always win them but we always show up.
“I’m confident that our lads will perform on the day. Whether that performance is good enough to beat a seasoned team like Naomh Conaill, we will just have to wait and see.
“I think our lads will perform but we need to be ready for the hurricane that Naomh Conaill will bring.”
