A FAMILY fun day for a very special cause is being held at Ionad Naomh Padraig Dobhar in Gweedore tomorrow (Saturday), June 28.
Charlotte and Bernard McCauley have organised the event in memory of their daughter Rachael who was ‘born sleeping’ last year.
Stillbirth and neonatal death is still a very hard subject for grieving parents to speak about, but with this event for the whole family, this brave couple is encouraging parents and families to ‘lift the stigma and silence’ and share their experiences.
Charlotte said: “We aim to raise money for Féileacáin, the stillborn and neonatal death association of Ireland which is a not-for-profit organisation that provides support to anyone affected.
“We’ll have bouncy castle, face painters, storytellers and various draws and vouchers to raise money for Féileacáin which was founded by a group of bereaved parents to offer hope and support to others affected by the loss of a baby.”
The fun day runs from 2 to 5pm and the cost is €5 per family. There will be lots of entertainment and balloons will be released for all the angel babies.
