Gaoth Dobhair Credit Union draw prize goes to Canada

THE Gaoth Dobhair Credit Union members draw took place on Thursday and the lucky winner of the top prize of €20,000 was Manus Bheaid, Ballindrait, Bunbeg and who has been living in Toronto, Canada for the past seven years.

This is the second time in recent years that Lady Luck smiled on Manus. In 2013 he was the lucky winner of the top prize of a car in this Credit Union draw.He is a son of Michael and Fionnula (Matt Bonar) and the eldest of four children and got married last year.

His dad, Michael, who accepted the cheque on his behalf said Manus has settled down in Canada.
“He decided to opt for the cash value of the car and it was put to good use, going towards his university Masters Degree. He works in Marketing and Communication with a Toronto Lawyer.”

The draw took place live on the Raidió na Gaeltachta’s ‘Barr Scéalta’ programme.
A prize of €2,000 was won by John M O’Brien, Meenacladdy, Meenlaragh.
The following won €1,000 each: Nora Teresa Ferry, Lower Cnoc Fola, Brinalack, Denis Gallagher, Magheraroarty, Gortahork, Peter McGee, Oldtown, Falcarragh, Breda McGeady, Ballyconnell, Falcarragh, Noreen Mooney, Moneybeg, Dunlewey, Connie Gillespie, Annagry, Catríona Nic Gairbheith, Cnoc a’ Stollaire, An Bun Beag, Máire J Gallagher, Factory Road, Derrybeg, Maurice Gallagher, Loughanure and Ann Coyle, 65 Ranafast, Annagry.
