Young rugby stars of the future who took part in the Girls Active Activity Fest 2017 in partnership with the Women’s Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour at the Aura Leisure Centre, Letterkenny this week.Girls Active is a physical activity programme delivered in post primary schools and Youthreach centres with a focus on creating more supportive environments for teenage girls to be more physically active.
In addition to the weekly activities that girls participate in their schools/Youthreach centres, participating girls are invited to attend and participate in the Annual Activity Fest as a celebration event. This year the Girls Active Activity Fest is celebrating the run up to the Women’s Rugby World Cup and the fact that Ireland are hosting this competition in Dublin and Belfast later in August. A Women’s Rugby international player will also be in attendance on the day with a focus to encourage young females to participate in physical activity.Photo: Declan Doherty
