Gallen expects tough marker in Celtic Park

OISIN Gallen says he doesn’t think about potential match-ups in the lead-up to a big game but the 23-year-old is expecting a tough battle regardless of who picks him up against Derry in Celtic Park next Saturday.

Gallen was marked by Eoin McEvoy in the Dr McKenna Cup Final this year but the Derry defender has been pushed out to the half-back line since.

Chrissy McKaigue has been Derry’s go-to man-marker, and he might want another crack at Gallen after the Sean MacCumhaill’s man took him for nine points last June – three from play, three from marks, and three from frees.

Gallen is now a key leader in the Donegal forward line, and the Derry management team of Mickey Harte and Gavin Devlin will have a plan for him.

“I’m not sure what the match-ups are going to be,” Gallen told the Donegal News.

“You don’t think about it. Football is funny and you don’t read too much into it.”
