Gallen and Donegal handle pressure to win group opener

Donegal forward Oisin Gallen admitted that there was pressure on his team as they headed to Ennis on Saturday but they came good to defeat Clare and get the All-Ireland Series group stages off to a winning start.

There’s still work to do for Donegal but Saturday’s win does leave them in a strong place, as Clare are considered to be the weakest of the three counties they have to play.

Gallen and his teammates made hard work of it as they were three points down at half-time.

However, they kicked 11 scores in the second half and were good value for their triumph.

“There was pressure on there’s no denying it and we knew we had to come to Clare and get a win, especially with this group stage and how it’s set up this year.
