GAA Legends are coming to Ballybofey to play in McCumhaill Park on Monday, October 7 to help raise funds for the Friends of Letterkenny General Hospital.
The event has been described as a real gathering of True GAA Legends, not all GAA Legends, but a mouth watering gathering of GAA heroes that have entertained hoards of supporters over the past 30 years.
The ever growing latest list of includes: Kieran McGeeney, (Armagh), Barney Rock (Dublin), Eamon O’Hara (Sligo), Fergal McGill (Leitrim) Pauric Dunne (Offaly), Anthony Tohill(Derry), Paddy Bradley (Derry), Peter Canavan (Tyrone), Brian McGuigan(Tyrone), Jayson Sherlock (Dublin), Joe Brolly (Derry), Nudie Hughes (Monaghan), Dessie Farrell (Dublin), Dara O’Shea (Kerry), Seamus Darby (Offaly), Colm O’Rourke (Meath), Pat Spillane (Kerry) and local Donegal heroes include Martin McHugh, James McHugh, Manus Boyle, John Joe Doherty, Barry McGowan, Brendan Devenney and Mark Crossan.
The Legends team is growing day by day as word of the event spreads from county to county.
The exploits of the Donegal Team in 2012 will be remembered for a long time and some of these great players are represented on the NYPD & Donegal 2012 Team which includes Michael Murphy, Karl Lacey, Colm McFadden, Paul Durkan, Neil McGee, Neil Gallagher, Frank McGlynn, Anthony Thompson and Mark McHugh. The NYPD Gaelic Football Club are sending over almost 50 of their finest players and indeed the full forward on the team is CJ Molloy, a nephew of All-Ireland winning captain in 1992 Anthony Molloy.
In Jackson’s Hotel from 8.30pm there is a chance to enjoy some refreshments and meet the players from both teams and a great night is promised.
An after match celebrity interview panel will give their analysis and assessment of the evenings football with lots of surprise awards on offer for both teams.
As is usual with all Donegal and New York events a lively mix of entertainment is lined up with David Craige, Grainne Gavigan, Anne Biddie, Deirdre Bonner and Gary Gamble from Highland Radio. A massive draw for signed jerseys from all over the country will also take place on the night.
This football match followed by the “meet and greet” in Jacksons Hotel is a great family event that celebrates the unique relationship between Donegal and New York and promises to be a fun event with all proceeds going to the Friends of Letterkenny General Hospital.
