A special fundraising event is being held to support the family of a man fighting for his life after an attack in Lifford last week.

Charles Dooher is being treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital for the serious injuries he suffered during the attack at his home on Monday, January 20.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Charles’s GAA club, Naomh Padraig Lifford, are organising a 7-a-side fundraiser at their pitch on Sunday, February 16.

“Charles is a vital member of our club and we hope he makes a full and speedy recovery and back home with his family doing what he loves best,” a club spokesperson said.

“Our 7-a-side (3subs) will consist of 3 players that are currently playing GAA for a club.

“The other members of your team have to be past players or your mother, father, granny or granda.

“It’s a day of fun and to bring our community together for a great cause. All money raised will help Charles’s family with travelling up and down to Belfast.”

If you are interested in entering a team into our competition, please get in contact with Square McNulty on Facebook or 0860683866 or just message the club’s page.

“Always keep Charles in your thoughts and prayers,” added the Naomh Padraig spokesperson.
