THOUSANDS of irate Three Network customers across Donegal are fuming after being left without a service for most of Bank Holiday Monday.

An electrical failure at the company’s data centre early this afternoon left up to 2million customer nationwide unable to text or make calls from 3pm.

One local customer was fuming as he was told in a recorded voice message it would take up to 27 minutes to get in contact with a customer services representative.

A Three spokesperson  explained:

“Some customers are currently experiencing intermittent 2G and 3G service issues.

“This has occurred due to an electrical failure at one of our data centres which caused an increase in temperature in the building and then subsequently impacted some systems affecting customer service.

“Our dedicated Networks team is continuing to work hard to resolve this as soon as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Customers across Donegal took to Twitter and facebook to vent their frustrations – with outages being reported nationwide.

“This is not on. I use my phone for work and while it was a Bank Holiday I needed the phone to get ahead for tomorrow,”

“I tried many times but couldn’t get through to the customer service care centre. It is not good enough and customers should be compensated some way, by free calls, texts or by a deduction,” one irate customer said.

The company recently absorbed O2’s customers, making it the second largest operator here behind Vodafone.

Customers of Tesco Mobile, which uses Three’s network, are also affected by the ongoing outage.
