FURTHER fundraising calls have been made in support of a Donegal child’s wish to walk.
TJ McDaid, from Drumkeen, who was born with severe spina bifida meningocele, has been undergoing gruelling specialist physiotherapy treatment in Budapest over the last year.
Despite making great progress, new fundraising calls were made last week when test results revealed the four-year-old had scaring on both of her kidneys.
With the chance of kidney failure now heightened, TJ needs to stay active to improve her life expectancy.
Anna Orsolyák, TJ’s teacher in Budapest said: “As TJ’s teacher from the beginning, I am so amazed with her progress and the willingness to learn, play and try new things.
“She developed a lot from the beginning, she couldn’t sit up or crawl and she learned this during a few sessions.”
“We are struggling to learn independent walking, at least with a walker, but she has the potential for that.”
“She needs a few more years of hard work and constant therapy.”
“Active movement is very important and she never stops practising even at home. For that, she of course needs money. Travel and the sessions aren’t cheap.”
“Everybody who is able please support this little warrior. She deserves better health and a successful life. She is just four years old, but doing her best and fighting every day to move independently,” she concluded.
Brave TJ is due to return to the Hungarian capital for more treatment at the Peto Institute this Sunday.
