THE funeral of the man who collapsed and died while climbing Errigal Mountain takes place tomorrow.
Carl Henderson (48) from Moira in Armagh and formerly of Ingleby Barwick, England, died on Saturday afternoon when he became unwell while trekking Errigal Mountain.
Emergency services including the National Ambulance Service, the Coast Guard’s Rescue 118 helicopter and Donegal Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to the scene.
The 48-year-old was airlifted off the mountain to Letterkenny University Hospital where he was sadly pronounced deceased. A post mortem has been carried out.
Mr Henderson was a married father-of-three.
He has been remembered as a “beloved husband” and “an incredible father”.
Mr Henderson’s remains reposed at the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny, yesterday.
Today, his remains will travel to McAlinden and Murtagh Funeral Home, 43 Ardmore Road, Lurgan, for arrival at approximately 3pm.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St Patrick and St Ronan’s Church, Magheralin, at 12 noon. Mr Henderson will be laid to rest in St Colman’s Cemetery, Kilwarlin.
Mr Henderson is survived by his wife Caroline, children, Aibhilín, Rían, and Caoimhe, and a wide circle of family and friends.
