A Service of Thanksgiving will take place tomorrow for Robert John Roulston, Moneymore Little, Newtowncunningham who died in a farm accident in Newtowncunningham on Monday.
Gardaí and other emergency services attended the scene of the fatal workplace accident at approximately 1pm on Monday.
Mr Roulston, who was in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His sudden death has been met with great shock and sadness locally. He was a highly respected and very popular member of the community.
Many tributes have been paid to the local farmer following his sudden passing.
Raphoe Hardware said: “From all the managers and staff of the Hardware, we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Roulston family from Newtowncunningham on the very very sad news of John’s death.
“John was a very good customer of ours and we loved the banter with him, he never passed you without a big hello for you.
“We will all miss him. RIP dear friend.”
Meanwhile, a clothes sale due to take place in Newtowncunningham Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 1 has been postponed following Mr Roulstons death.
“Due to the sad and tragic passing of one of our dear church family members, John Roulston, the clothes sale which was due to take place on
Saturday, March 1, has been postponed,” a spokesperson said.
“Our sincerest condolences to the Roulston family.
“Please keep them in your prayers.”
Mr Roulston’s remains will repose at his home from 12pm today, Thursday.
His funeral will leave from his home tomorrow, Friday at 12.30pm for 1pm Service of Thanksgiving in Newtowncunningham Presbyterian
Church followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.
He is predeceased by his father Alan.
He was the cherished son of Florence, the much loved husband of Susan, father of Louise (Daniel), Helen and Emily and devoted grandfather of baby William.
He will be deeply missed by his brothers Keith (Patricia), George (Jayne), sisters Valerie (Colin), Alison (Wesley), Sylvia (John), nieces, nephews, his wider family circle neighbours and many friends.
