THE funeral will take place this morning in St. Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny of Philip (Phil) Brogan, Ballaghderg, Mountain Top, Letterkenny.
A very well known and highly respected member of the local community, his peaceful death took place in Letterkenny University Hospital on Monday. News of Phil’s passing has been met with deep sadness among those who knew him. A warm and friendly neighbour and friend, he will be remembered by many from his time working with the ESB.
His work took him all over the county and many of his former colleagues and friends who attended his wake have told stories of his career, and the many friends Phil made along the way. He was a valued colleague to many, and even though he had been retired for a number of years, the bond among Phil and his fellow ESB workers never dwindled.
A great community man, he took a keen interest in the issues of everyday life in the town. He loved politics and immersed himself in political matters – whether that was at a local or national level.
A man of very strong faith, his family was Phil’s world and along with his wife Mary, they loved nothing more than to spend time with their family members, particularly their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His remains reposed at his late residence on Tuesday and Wednesday. Funeral from there this morning, Thursday, at 10.15am going to St. Eunan’s Cathedral for 11am Requiem Mass which can be viewed on www.churchservices.tvletterkenny.
Interment afterwards in Conwal Cemetery.
Family flowers only please.
Donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, to Friends of Letterkenny Hospital co any family member.
Phil will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Mary, sons, Brian (Yvonne), Martin and Ciaran (Lorraine), daughters, Sinéad (Graham), Maria (Barry) and Catriona, 13 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, brother, John and sister, Margaret Crossan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours.
