The funeral took place in St. Eunan’s Cathedral on Saturday of Margaret Bradley (née Laughlin), 52 Dr McGinley Road, Letterkenny and formerly Rahan, Letterkenny.
She died on Thursday in Letterkenny University Hospital.
Margaret was predeceased in October last year by her husband Willie, and at her funeral Mass, Monsignor Kevin Gillespie recalled how the couple had first met, and enjoyed such a happy married life together.
“At an early age, her eyes fell on one Willie Bradley – she in Rahan and he in Rashedogue,” Mgr Gillespie said.
“Willie must have been running around with her brothers and it was her habit to go rambling with them. These were innocent days long ago, when neighbours visited one another.”
The couple were married in Drumkeen – a quiet and joyful day for them.
“This was the start of a life lived without fuss but with great sense and closeness, a common effort to raise their family and to steer them right in the world,” Mgr Gillespie added.
“Moving to Dr McGinley Road, Margaret dedicated herself to rearing her family.
“She had great good humour and always the best of craic and it was so obvious how much her own children enjoyed their mother.”
Margaret also had great friends among her neighbours in Glencar, and while naturally, she missed her husband Willie after he died, Mgr Gillespie said that in her own way, she simply loved life, loved her family and wanted for nothing.
Following Saturday’s Mass, burial took place in Leck Cemetery.
Predeceased by her loving husband Willie, Margaret will be sadly missed by her heartbroken children William (Claire), Johnny (Brenda), Jackie (Martin), Josephine and Caroline and grandchildren.
