THE funeral service of a 19-year-old motorcyclist who died in a crash in Killygordon will be held today.

Finley Cole (19) resided in Letterkenny and was a native of Ballaghaderreen, Roscommon.

 A funeral service will be held today (Thursday) at 2pm at Lakelands Crematorium Cavan.

On Friday afternoon, his motorcycle collided with a vehicle at Railway Road, Killygordon around 2pm.

Mr Cole was critically injured, and despite the best efforts of passerbys and the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is understood that Mr Cole had just finished a half-day at work at a local engineering company.

A post on RIP.ie reads, “To the inexpressible grief of his partner and best friend Erica, his parents Paul, Maria, Vanessa and Paul his sisters, Alana, Josie and Alex, his brother Max, relatives and his many friends.”

St Joseph’s Community College, Charlestown where Mr Cole was previously a student, paid tribute to the young man.

 “It is with deepest regret that we learn of the untimely passing of Finley Cole (Leaving Certificate class of 2020).

“We wish to extend sympathies to his partner, parents, family members and friends.

“His time amongst us will be fondly remembered by the entire school community.”

Gardaí in Letterkenny are investigating and have renewed their appeal for information following the fatal road traffic collision.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact them. Any road users who have a dash cam and who were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
