Fundraising events for Donegal RNLI

THE RNLI in Donegal have offered their thanks to all who have supported their fundraising campaign over recent months.

The bucket collection in the Dunfanaghy Pornablagh area last weekend raised just under €1,200.

On Saturday, August 9 a fundraising event is taking place in Fanad led by Michael Alcorn and Seamus Martin who were dramatically rescued just two years ago. Their activities kick off at 10am with a Colmcille Trail Walk, meeting at the Portsalon Car Park at 10am (adjacent to the golf course) led by Mary Doherty and the team, to be followed by a beach swim at 12 midday near the pier.

The fun continues later in the evening at the Lighthouse Tavern with a pub quiz and music from 9pm. Further details available on 087 6228425 and all proceeds in aid of the Lifeboats.

The John Logue Memorial Angling event will take place on Saturday, August 16. Boats departing from Kerrykeel with fishing from 12 noon to 4pm. For further details and registrations contact 087 4103292.

On Sheephaven Bay, the weekly Crab Crawls continue every Wednesday evening and proceeds are in aid of the Lifeboats and Sheephaven Sub Aqua Group.

A Sheephaven Point to Pier Challenge Swim will take place on Saturday, August 16 kindly supported by Errigal Training Centre and Letterkenny Credit Union, with all proceeds in aid of the Lifeboats and Donegal Hospice. This event is already fully subscribed.
