Fundraising curragh event supports Teach Pobail Mhuire Building Fund

CUMANN na gCurach Ghaoth Dobhair has presented a cheque for €2,100 to Fr. Brian Ó Fearraigh, P.P., in aid of Teach Pobail Mhuire Building Fund.

The funds were raised through a special fundraising currach row organised earlier this year in response to the devastating fire that completely destroyed Teach Pobail Mhuire on Easter Monday.

Three curragh crews from Cumann na gCurach Ghaoth Dobhair with friends from Cumann Ramhaíochta Chloich Cheann Fhaola took part in the event. They rowed from Oileán na Cruite to Magheragallon where a warm welcome from the local community.

Speaking at the presentation of the cheque William Boyle said this funding was about much more than the journey itself. It was about community solidarity and helping in whatever way they could after a deeply felt loss of the church.

William expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported the event and helped them to raise a magnificent sum to help in rebuilding Teach Pobail Mhuire.

He also expressed their deep gratitude to the three boatmen, Dónal Rua Gall Gallagher, Éamonn Sailor Sweeney and Declan Kelly.
