Fundraisers this weekend for TJ

A NUMBER of community fundraisers will take place this weekend in continued support of a Donegal tot’s wish to walk.

TJ McDaid has returned home to Ireland after another period of treatment in Budapest.

The three-year-old was born with severe spina bifida meningocele, and has been undergoing gruelling specialist physiotherapy treatment over the last year in a bid to be able walk.

TJ’s mum, Claire, who comes from Drumkeen, said her daughter made “more great progress” during the last three weeks in Hungary.

“We are so proud of her after three weeks of hard work,” said Claire.

The youngster is due to return to the Hungarian capital for more treatment at the Peto Institute.

“TJ still needs a lot of intense therapy and we will return to Budapest in 12 weeks’ time.

“We would like to thank everyone for their continued support, TJ wouldn’t be doing what she is doing today without all the support at home.”

Each medical trip to the Peto Institute costs €12,000 on average, so fundraising is a priority to ensure TJ’s treatment can continue.

With this in mind, plans are well underway for a Jumble Sale in aid of TJ’s Wish to Talk on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7 in St Patrick’s Hall, Drumkeen. The Eircode is F93D726.

Bring the kids along on Saturday, July 6, from 4.30 to 5.30pm to meet Mr TJ and enjoy some sweet treats.
