FUNDRAISING efforts are underway to help a small Donegal business after the caravan they used as storage was stolen last month and set alight.
Taking to social media last week to appeal to the public for information surrounding the theft, Selkie Sailing Adventures shared the sad news with their followers.
“Sad news about our little vintage caravan that was stolen from Magheroarty Pier.
“It was burnt out at the side of the road.
“It is a financial loss that we might not be able to recover from.”
Established in 2010, the team at Selkie Sailing Adventures have worked tirelessly down through the years to build up their small business.
However, they were left devastated when they realised their “little vintage caravan”, which was used to store surfboards and body boards, was stolen from Machaire Uí Rabhartaigh Pier.
Now left trying to pick up the pieces, the team have launched a GoFundMe in a bid to recuperate some of the losses.
“We have worked hard to build up our equipment so we can offer fun experiences and access to our beautiful shore and sea,” said business owner, Amanda Doherty.
“We were all shocked and disappointed by the theft and deliberate destruction of our vintage caravan where we stored surfboards, body boards, wetsuits and safety gear which has been situated in Magheroarty for a few years.
“Many have suggested we set up this GoFundMe to try and recuperate some of the losses to at least still be able to carry on offering surfing,” she concluded.
