By Dionne Meehan

FUNDRAISING efforts are underway to help a Castlefinn man who is awaiting a heart transplant in America.

Kieron McGee moved to America over 20 ago.

Through his self-determination, hard work and perseverance, he has built his own successful business and is a loving and devoted father to his son Cody.

However, back in 2022, Kieron started suffering from chest pains and shortening of breath.

Following a visit to the Emergency Department, Kieron was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, had several heart attacks and had a blood clot in his left ventricle in which stents have been placed due to blockages.

Kieron’s heart is also enlarged, making it harder to pump out the normal amount of blood.

As he is at risk of sudden cardiac arrest, he now has the help of an internal defibrillator.

This, coupled with Rheumatoid arthritis and Fiber Neuropathy, has made it impossible for him to continue to work.

As a result of not being able to work, Kieron and his family are facing economic hardship.

Setting up a GoFundMe page in a bid to ease the financial burden, Kieron’s good friend Damien Rush said any donations will go a long way.

“On his last hospital visit he was informed he would need a heart pump or more likely a heart transplant and is on a wait list, which could take a year,” Damien said.

“Medical bills, mortgage payments and household bills have been building up.

“While caring for his son Cody, Kieron has done his best to stay afloat without asking for help.

“That is why I am asking anyone who can afford to please do so,” he said.

Any donations will be used to help pay for Kieron’s out-of-pocket medical care (such as co-pays, deductibles, and uncovered costs), as well as, everyday expenses of biils, food and medical supplies.

“I thank you and greatly appreciate any support you can provide, whether it’s a donation or sharing this campaign with your friends and family,” Damien concluded.
