MORE than €550,000 has been allocated to boost remote working infrastructure in Donegal by enhancing existing broadband connection points and hubs.
Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Donegal T.D., Charlie McConalogue made the announcement this morning under the Connected Hubs Scheme for Donegal projects.
Grants will also fund measures to assist hubs to deal with Covid related challenges.
The funding will support a wide range of works including the expansion of existing hubs, installation of privacy booths, access control and security systems, the conversion of existing open plan space to modular offices, and provision of enhanced audio visual, networking and conferencing facilities.
Welcoming the successful projects today, Minister McConalogue said: “The allocation of over €550k in funding for Donegal projects and €3m for the North West Region in total is a tremendous commitment to the future of rural Ireland and to increase the capacity and infrastructure of rural towns and villages. I thank my colleague Minister Humphreys and all the teams and project leads involved in progressing these fantastic and innovative projects.”
