Funding scheme for Donegal Sports

DONEGAL Sports Partnership is to benefit from €92,500 in support from the Government’s Dormant Accounts Funding scheme.

It’s part of an overall investment package of €4.86m which is going towards local Sports Partnerships and Active Disability Ireland from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

The Dormant Accounts Fund enables unclaimed funds from accounts in credit institutions in Ireland to be utilised to support the development of individuals who are economically or educationally disadvantaged, or those affected by a disability.

The funding has been welcomed by Fianna Fáil Senator, Niall Blaney who said it proves his party’s commitment to bring the benefits of sport and physical activity to those experiencing disadvantage or with disabilities.

“Funding for dormant accounts has a real impact on individuals in our communities here in Donegal and this new round of funding will help support those living with disadvantage or with disabilities to have greater opportunities to participate in activities they have a passion for,” he said.

“I am delighted to support Sport Ireland in continuing to boost engagement in physical activities within our local communities.”
