FUNDING of €5,000 donated to a charity in Donegal, in a bid to tackle food poverty, has benefited more than 100 families.
A new report from the Children’s Rights Alliance, in partnership with Enterprise Mobility and four local charities, has highlighted the significant financial burden faced by families during school holidays.
To address this pressing issue, Enterprise Mobility has generously donated €20,000 to support over 230 families and nearly 800 children across six counties in Ireland.
In Donegal, Enterprise Mobility has donated €5,000 to the National Childhood Network (NCN).
This funding has provided 103 families — including 185 children and young people — with local butcher and supermarket vouchers and a recipe book.
“I was dreading the added cost of feeding my four children over the school holidays,” said one parent who received support from NCN.
“The vouchers took away all my stress and allowed me to provide my kids with healthy meals.”
Other counties to receive funding through charities include Limerick, Dublin, Laois, Cavan and Monaghan.
This support has been particularly crucial during school holidays when families often face increased expenses for food and activities.
Leslee O’Loughlin, HR manager for Enterprise Mobility in Ireland, emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting families.
“No family should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. Through our Fill Your Tank initiative, we aim to provide real, tangible support to families in need. We are proud to help ease the strain that so many parents face, especially during the school holidays when children are at home.”
Over the past three years, the Fill Your Tank initiative has made a significant impact, supporting nearly 1,000 families and 2,300 children across eight counties in Ireland.
