ULSTER-Scots marching bands in Donegal are potentially in line for a funding boost following the opening of a new pilot funding programme.
The Ulster-Scots Agency has secured additional funding to open the programme which will fund marching bands in Donegal, Cavan, and Monaghan to purchase instruments or uniforms to make their band more sustainable.
The grants are aimed at increasing the confidence and capacity of the Ulster-Scots community in border counties by improving the appearance and musicality of bands in these areas.
The fund will provide support of up to 90% of eligible cost’s up to a maximum grant of €10,000. The Agency is able under this scheme to support bands to purchase musical instruments, uniforms, and consumable items such as pipe bags, chanters, reeds, drumsticks, and pads. A full list of all eligible costs is listed in the programme guidelines which will be emailed to Bands along with the application form once they complete the registration process.
Groups interested in applying should visit Ulster-Scots Agency website www.ulsterscotsagency.com, follow the link for ROI Instruments and Uniform Grants and complete the registration process and an application form, and guidelines will be emailed to the Band.
