Funding announced for 11 Donegal heritage projects

A total of €72,000 has been awarded to 11 built heritage projects across Donegal.

Heritage Minister Malcolm Noonan announced the cash this morning under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Donegal TD, Charlie McConalogue, today welcomed the announcement of Minister of State for Heritage and Electoral Reform, Malcolm Noonan TD of €72,000 for 11 Donegal built heritage projects under this year’s Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS).

In addition to supporting owners and custodians of historic and protected structures to safeguard and maintain their properties, the funding will also provide a welcome boost to local construction and heritage trades by facilitating works.

Welcoming the announcement, Agriculture Minister and Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue said, “The announcement of these funding schemes will help Donegal County Council and local heritage groups to continue to maintain and improve the wealth of built heritage projects we have in Donegal. This year’s announcement includes funding for famous Donegal projects such as Fort Stewart in Ramelton and Colgan Hall in Carndonagh.”

Details of awards granted under the Department’s other built heritage scheme, the Historic Structures Fund, will be announced following their assessment in the coming weeks.

The 11 projects are as follows:

House at Back Lane, Ramelton
Roof repair, structures and coverings including leadwork

Colgan Hall, Carndonagh

The Bottling Store, Ramelton
