HUNDREDS of people turned up in support of the third annual Big Fight Night which took place in Letterkenny on Saturday.
The Clanree Hotel was packed to capacity as spectators gathered to witness a series of showdowns between the red team and blue team.
Months of training at Letterkenny Boxing Club have gone into preparing these amateur boxers for the main event.
And once again it is becoming one of the highlights of the social calendar while at the same time raising money for Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin.
MC for the night was well-known local broadcaster Frank Galligan who kept the large crowd entertained during bouts.
Following a number of entertaining and sometimes brutal encounters between both sides, the blue team were the ultimate victors.
However, the rivalry between the two teams was of a friendly nature will all agreeing that a few blows were nothing compared to the overall benefits in the money raised for Our Lady’s Hospital.
All the boxers who took part have also been busy raising additional funds through sponsorship and the final amount raised on the night has not been finalised yet.
The organisers have expressed their thanks to the Clanree Hotel for provising the venue, as well as the many sponsors who have helped to ensure that this event is one which will become a regular feature in the social diary.
