FRUSTRATION is growing among local councillors in relation to a poor flow of information from Irish Water in relation to several important infrastructure projects in the area.
And now calls have come from Cllr. Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly for a special meeting between councillors and Irish Water.
Speaking at the April meeting of Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Council, he recalled that it is now more than six months since the last face-to-face meeting between local councillors and representatives of Irish Water.
He, like a number of other councillors, has expressed concerns about the town’s water and sewerage infrastructure and the need for expansion to tie in with new projects.
“I have not got one response to any question I have asked,” he said, in relation to the previous meeting.
And he added: “I feel I should not have to bring a motion like this before the council, but I think it is not too big an ask to have a meeting with Irish Water twice a year.”
Meanwhile, Cllr. Donal Coyle claimed that the capacity of the reservoir at Rahan is not big enough, notwithstanding the plans for 170 more houses at Ballymacool.
“We need to be looking for answers and what their five year plan is for our municipal district,” he stated.
