Fresh plans lodged for Letterkenny estate

A HOUSING development in Letterkenny could again be on the cards after an extension of duration application was lodged with Donegal County Council. 
The application for the proposed housing development comprising 174 units in Creevesmith was lodged by applicant George Doherty Construction (IRL) Limited earlier this month.
Planning permission had initially been lodged in October 2006 by applicant Billy Patterson. That proposed development comprised the construction of 142 two-storey houses and 16 duplex units each containing a ground floor apartment with townhouse above  at Creevesmith. The proposed plans had also included site works, including connection to existing foul sewer. Also included was the upgrading of existing county road including new junction onto Rann Road. An extension of duration application was lodged in October 2012 by Mr Patterson.
In November 2017, GDC Ireland Ltd., lodged extension of duration plans for the construction of 134 two-storey houses and 20 duplex units, each containing a ground floor apartment with townhouse above. The extension of duration was granted by Donegal County Council until December 31, 2021.
A new extension of duration application was lodged by George Doherty Construction (IRL) Limited on October 11 this year. It comprises revisions to previously approved planning applications. It included revisions to part of internal site layout and all associated site works to include upgrading/realignment of Knockanar Road and connection to existing public sewer. It also comprised the omission of 94 residential units previously approved and the construction of 72 dwellings and 16 apartments; 88 residential units in all. It also included the relocation of crèche and associated site works.
The current proposed development comprises the construction of 142 two-storey houses and 16 duplex units, each containing ground floor apartment with townhouse above. The total number of units being 174. The proposed development also includes connection to existing foul sewer, upgrading of existing county road including new junction onto Rann Road in Creevesmith.
Submissions are being accepted until Sunday, November 14, 2021.  Donegal County Council will make its decision on December 5, 2021.
