Amid funding issues, European Parliament election candidate Chris MacManus is calling for government intervention to ensure the Lifford Clonleigh Resource Centre can continue to provide its current level of service to the community.
MacManus, who’s currently a Midlands North West MEP for Sinn Féin, has been meeting with management and staff at the resource centre.
“First off, I wish to commend all those who work with the Lifford Clonleigh Resource Centre. They do Trojan work for the people of their community, and do so with little fuss or fanfare,” said Mr MacManus.
“I was delighted to meet them recently with Deputy Pearse Doherty and the Sinn Féin local election candidate in the Lifford-Stranorlar LEA, Tony McDaid, and to endorse their campaign for core funding from the Government.
“The people of the West and North West have been left behind by successive Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael governments, and the lack of funding for this centre is another example of their indifference towards those of us who live in the region,” claims the MEP.
