Fresh appeal for information following fatal collision

GARDAÍ have issued a fresh appeal for information on a fatal collision in Gortahork which claimed the lives of two young men.

Shaun Martin McClafferty (17) and his friend Jamie Diver, aged in his 20s, died following the single vehicle collision in the townland of Baltoney, Gortahork on the night of Friday, February 28.

The two friends died when the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into the gable wall of a house at approximately 9.30pm.

Mr McClafferty, who was the driver, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr Diver, who was a rear seat passenger, was also pronounced deceased at the scene.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the townland of Baltoney between 9pm and 9.30pm on Friday night are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Milford Garda Station on (074) 9153060, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
