Freezing rain warning issued as hazardous road conditions lead to closure of Lough Salt road

FREEZING rain is expected to continue until 11am tomorrow, with motorists being warned of dangerous conditions on roads across the county.

Until then, road conditions may be hazardous, as not all routes across the county will be treated.

Drivers are warned that travel conditions could be treacherous and are advised to avoid travel if possible.

If you must travel, proceed with extreme caution, allow extra time, and watch for icy patches, particularly on untreated roads.

Meanwhile, due to icy road conditions, the L1192 Lough Salt Road from Kilmacrennan to Glen Village has been closed.

Motorists are advised to avoid this route.
