Free books for all children starting school

Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O’Gorman, T.D. announced the roll-out of the “First 5 – My Little Library” initiative from April 4. Each child starting school in September will receive a free bag of books from their local library.
Libraries throughout Donegal will be taking part in this fantastic campaign.
Parents have been receiving invitations since yesterday from their child’s ELC to collect the books from their local library.
All parents have to do is call into their local library to receive the bag of books. Children will be asked to join the library and each will receive a “My Little Library” card wallet for the library card.
Bags of English and Irish language books are available.
The project is a collaboration between the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY), the Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD), local authorities and the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA).
The books are available now from libraries throughout the county. Please check www.donegallibrary.ie for opening times.
