Fr Shaun’s special day

Former Highland Radio presenter Shaun Doherty has been ordained a priest at a special ceremony held in St Eugene’s Cathedral in Derry. Hundreds of family members, parishioners and friends gathered for Fr Shaun’s special day which was celebrated by the Most Rev Dr Donal McKeown D.D., Bishop of Derry.

Yesterday’s celebrations came just six years after Fr Shaun’s shock announcement to step away from his popular morning programme on Highland Radio to dedicate his life to God. Having been based in Rome since he was ordained a Deacon last year, it is expected that he will be based in the Derry Diocese now that he is ordained a priest.

The newly ordained Fr Shaun will celebrate his first Mass in St. Columb’s Church in Derry this evening.
