A LARGE congregation is expected at St Eunan’s Cathedral in Letterkenny tonight for the first Mass to be celebrated by newly ordained Fr Shaun Doherty the former Highland Radio anchor presenter.
Fr Shaun will celebrate the Vigil Mass for the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 7 pm.
Afterwards he will give his blessing and greet members of the congregation.
Fr Doherty begins his ministry in the Derry Diocese on Tuesday.
He was ordained on July 2 having studied at a seminary in Rome.
He is an active member of the Columba Community of Derry and Donegal which was founded by the Late Fr Neal Carlin.
Large numbers of people are expected to attend the Mass.
Some refreshments are being arranged for afterwards as people wait to greet Fr Doherty.
Visitors are advised to park at the Hugh Duffy car park, opposite Scoil Mhuire gan Smál, the Cathedral car park and the car park behind the Cathedral.
