Fr Anthony Hartnett to be appointed to St Eunan’s

Newly ordained Fr Anthony Hartnett’s first appointment as a priest is to St. Eunan’s Cathedral in Letterkenny, it has been confirmed.

Parishioners at Masses in the cathedral over the weekend were informed that Fr. Hartnett is to take up his new post at the beginning of July.

Monsignor Kevin Gillespie, in making the announcement at 12 noon Mass on Sunday, said the cathedral had hosted Fr. Hartnett’s ordination the previous Sunday and he thanked everyone who had played their part in the ceremony.

He said Fr. Hartnett’s appointment in July will see the team of priests in the cathedral rise to four with Rev Damien Nejad and Rev Kizito Kalemeera also administering in the parish.

A native of Co. Wicklow, Fr. Hartnett has been living in Donegal for over ten years and was ordained a Deacon in the Church of Mary Immaculate in Stranorlar last September.
